Has anyone read the LF News this week. It has a panned development site located east of the rodeo grounds and back around north of 10th St. and thats not even half.. It is said to be called The Lakes...Who is this Bill Hudson... It says he developed Paseo dela Resaca in B-town...where is that located...It expects to triple the taxes collected and double the Pop... in 12-15 yrs. Does anyone have comments about this proposed development.. Would it be good for the city or not... and who would stand to gain... and if its is the community of LF that would gain, "In what ways would we."..
There is another section on pg 6 where it talks about the corner where the boys and girls club and the vet clinic for an business development site with offices.
We must consider it carefully and decide the future of LF's growth correctly, to be able to maintain our unique ness we must keep our rural hometown atmosphere...

Also at the meeting, the city council welcomed a new member to the Los Fresnos Community Development Corp. board. Councilmembers chose long-time Los Fresnos resident Eddie Cruz to succeed board member Carl Macomb, who stepped down. “Carl was a good member,” Milum said. “He helped the CDC a lot.” Milum said Cruz would be a good asset for the board. Manuel Abrego, former mayor, and John Peterson were reappointed to their positions on the board, which has seven members who serve two-year terms. The city council’s next regular meeting is Feb. 13 at 7 p.m.

I've checked to see if the minutes/agenda are posted online on the city's website but it seems to be under construction.
I would like to get more information.

I saw it in this weeks Los Fresnos Weekly.. it has a drawn up subdivision that would incompase the size of land that spans btw Hwy 100, Whipple, FM 1575, and Arroyo blvd. to compare. it has designated school sites,roads, lakes, and parks next to them. and it has its streach of property on HWy 100 as commercial area..
I kike the idea of have LF grow but the picture has it broken down into extraemly small lots that seems close to what the size of lots at California Crossings(obra homes)... just imagine LF doubling in size with cookie cutter homes and small yards where people rarly know their nieghbors. Development is good but overdevelopment is hat that land looks like.

Is this the area where our former county judge wanted to build the famous dump before his plan was discovered? It seems like a nice development would be a good thing, something where there are minimum square footage requirements. Growth will happen as it is everywhere in the Valley and elsewhere, but we don't need an upscale colonia so the city leaders needs to be on top of any proposal.

If they were tracts of anywhere from 2/3 -1 acre areas which is not developed buy a singe company or into difrent developments by a seperate contractor, where all we would see in similarity around every sector.
If anything they should sell the land only and have people custom homes where no house coould be similare in shape to anyhouse on the road. Is this to much to ask.
If you have to many small tracts of land you end up with the problems over at Los Pinos and thier elemantry. It was suppose to relieve the congestion but it ended up being part of the problem... alot of ppl alot of children leads to the overcrowding of schools which leaves no room for further growth b/c the niegborhood has surrounded the campus. play gounds are feet away of houses...
PLus the city could ask for minimum footage on houses and property since the development site would have to be annexed. The city would also benifiet on the cost... it will cost less to install sewer and elec. cables twice every acre than 3 or 4 times.. just a thought.

I don't know.
I emailed the city manager and asked him for the graphics so I can put'em on the web page.
I would be all for it if each lot was 1/2 an acre EACH with a minimum of 1800 sq feet living area, no chain link fence, 2 car garages.
We don't need cars filling up the streets because of 1 car garages.
I'm not sure though.
What about that slogan that read on the welcome sign. I think it says, "country charm, city flavor" or something like that.

I think this is wonderful. We cannot stop the interest that many people around the lower valley talk about when they speak about Los Fresnos...I think the main selling point, besides being a quiet town, is our school system...We need to accomodate our growth and move forward. I dont think stopping a developer from building is smart or the growth of Los Fresnos..It just seems that the demand and interest will be haunting our areas for many years to come...

WOW! Is what I have to say. It looks really Nice & pretty & Impressive on paper but I wonder if its going to have houses like these Obra Homes. They are all so the same. Every 4 houses are different then again the patter continues. Yes it would be great for the lots to be bigger than 1 acre. I just hope Los Fresnos doesnt get over populated. I like Los Fresnos the way it is and I plan to stay there, but looks to me that in the near fututre Brownsville is going to take over. Los Fresnos Is a great place to raise our children (Schools). I would hate to see Los Fresnos look like Brownsville. I agree with lfrgv's comments.

;)Thanks... I just hope that we are not the only ones who think this way. I hope they are big lots. Does anyone know when they are going to start on it. What would be the price ranges there. Well twelve to fifteen years is a long ways to go. It will give me plenty of time to save some money. LOL I'm really impressed with the landscape (picture). It looks beautiful..... By the way does anyone know how much the lots are and when are homes going to be built over by FM803 (by the curves) the lots with the resaca view in the back. Its been the same for a long time and I haven't seen any movement every time I go to inquire about their lots theres no one there. Thats a nice place also to build a house especially with the resaca view.

that land by the curves was being sold at a ridiculous price...i think each lot was starting @ 50thou....its a nice resaca...I grew up around there and looked into it before I ended up buying in LF....too much for so little

Really 50,000... Well how big (small) are the lots half an acre??? Well thanks for the information. do you know why they haven't started building. Are there any requirements? Maybe the lots with the resaca view are 50 and the other side w/o the resaca view are less? Do you or anybody know?

The Planning and Zoning meeting meets once a month. The 3rd Monday of every month.
Nothing is official with regards to this plan according a city official.
Well keep you posted.
I will seek a copy of the agenda for the meetings and keep everyone informed.
